The Bookshelf February 2024

I want to start by saying this.... DO NOT COMPARE YOUR READING JOURNEY TO SOMEONE ELSES! These month-end blogs about the books I've read are to share my personal reads, my thoughts on them, and what I would rate them and hopefully encourage you and give you book recommendations... AND keep in mind, these are my personal thoughts... just because I don't like a book, doesn't mean that you won't love it!

Below is a graphic sharing how I rate books.... It's pretty simple and based on MY PERSONAL READING EXPERIENCE!

★★★☆☆

This book was like a little HUG! It was a fun, light-hearted, and charming romance. It was uplifting and made me laugh. Its a story of two kindred spirits who develop a friendship and more communicating online.

Izzy is a book nerd who works at the library but has dreams of owning her own bookstore. She grew up with her aunt and three cousins since the death of her parents. Her cousin, Josephine, who is married and expecting twins, decides to help Izzy find love. She signs Izzy up on a dating website. After some hilarious missteps Izzy connects with a man and they forge a friendship based on books. BUT her cousin insists that she needs a match in "real life" and she continues to set Izzy up with other guys.

You get to join them as they message one another back and forth and as Izzy shares with her cousins (Josephine, Penelope, and Luke) all that's happening in her life.

I gave this book 3 stars because, while it was a great FUN READ... it didn't move me to tears (which is fine) or give me things to ponder.... HOWEVER, if you are looking for a light read, a book that will give you a HUG>>> THIS IS THE ONE! <3

★★★★☆

This was my first book by Karen Kingsbury. I was hooked from the start. I absolutely loved the characters in this story... I didn't want it to end. The story tugs at your heartstrings - there is heartbreak but also hope, faith, and healing! Such a WONDERFUL book! I highly recommend it!

"The word of God is your sword," she had told them. "An invisible sword able to handle any battle, any difficulty you face. That's why we memorize scripture."
