Bible Journaling Lesson: Our Rescuer

This lesson is inspired by my son, Elijah. His current favorite Bible Story is the story of Moses. He loves the entire story. I was re-reading the story and Exodus 14:13 stood out to me. I don't know that I've ever paid it much mind till that day....

“But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again.” -Exodus 14:13

DON'T BE AFRAID. JUST STAND STILL AND WATCH THE LORD RESCUE YOU TODAY!

Whoa... that was so powerful to me!

How many times have I just felt like I was drowning, or stuck, or being crushed.... and here in this story, Moses and the Israelites were penned up against a sea with the enemy there at their heels and Moses says.... JUST WAIT! GOD'S GONNA RESCUE US! It choked me up! Then God showed out.... because that is the mighty God we serve!

Throughout history, throughout scripture... we can find a multitude of stories about individuals and groups of people who God has rescued when there is no apparent way to escape. When we are caught in a problem and see no way out... GOD CAN OPEN UP A WAY! By focusing on God's faithfulness not only in our own lives but throughout the lives of those we read about in The Bible, we can face crises with confidence rather than with fear.

Abba Father, help me to look to YOU instead of trying to fight through this life on my own. Let me be reminded over and over and over Lord - esp in the unexpected storms this life brings - that YOU are my helper and my rescuer! Thank you Lord for allowing me to rest in YOU and rely upon you and thank you Abba-Father for your faithfulness - thank you that your promises hold true and are never broken and that we can rely on you! Even in the dark stormy days, nights, and seasons.... In your precious name we pray, AMEN!
